The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Russian Federation is a diplomatic mission that defends and complements the interests of our country in Russia. The peoples of our two countries have been closely and profoundly interlinked for centuries. The time since the first contacts were established has enriched the traditions dating more than twelve centuries ago. We are linked by the Cyrillic script – the alphabet created by the Holy Brothers St. Cyril and St. Methodius, by Orthodox Christianity – with a whole gallery of Christian saints worshipped both in Bulgaria and in Russia, and with the military valour and heroism of the Slav brothers who stood shoulder to shoulder and defended in battle the freedom and the independence of Bulgaria and of its people.

Today, the exchange and mutual enriching of our cultures, the achievements in the sphere of science and education, the mastering of new technologies and their development reveal new vistas before us. The modern age gives us new chances to invigorate our economic relations in different spheres, prompted by the present-day rhythm of development of our two states. In this respect it is worth noting the intensification of the flow of tourists – just one of the tendencies that will define our business and cultural relations in the future.

We are pleased that the citizens and the institutions of Bulgaria and of Russia find shared interests, as before, and it is our hope that they will develop ever more intensively and fruitfully in the future.
